Leo's sister, Alma Cernell, tells of that fateful day.
"It was Leo's 18th birthday although the paper say it was his 19th. The day started with him making three efforts before he finally left for work. My mother (who) was pregnant with me and his wife (who)was expecting their baby, were ill at ease with the way he seemed hesitant to leave. It was his first day of work and Dad told him that they could not be late. After he left they went ahead for a dinner, his wife fixed a cake.
In the evening only my dad came home with the dreadful news. Needless to say, it was heartbreaking for all and I have grown up with this memory. I was born 19 days later and Leo's baby was still born in February."

Guy's book is out of print, but we are hoping if there is enough interest that the Carlucci family will do a reprint.
